Stags Win SCIAC Semifinals Match 4-0!

Game Recap Check back soon for a full game recap.

Pre-Game Coverage By Andre Pegeron The SCIAC men's soccer tournament begins on Wednesday night with a semifinal game between the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Stags and the Whittier Poets. The Stags (9-4-1) narrowly edged out the Poets (9-5) for second place in the regular season standings and the right to host the match at Pritzlaff Field. This game is a rematch of last year's semifinal, where Alex Lichtenberg's overtime goal clinched a 1-0 victory for the Stags. CMS went on to defeat Redlands in the final for the second consecutive year, and are looking to make it three SCIAC tournament championships in a row. The teams split their two regular season matchups, with a 4-0 victory for CMS in Claremont being avenged a month later by a 2-0 Poets triumph on their home turf. The Stags will try to use the home crowd to their advantage as they take on the Poets, who have won four in a row. The winning team will face either Redlands or Pomona-Pitzer in the final on Saturday.
