Question: If you come off a national title, a 30-win season losing 4 starters and a legendary coach, how different is it this season?

Ask that question to the Occidental Tigers, and they would say "No difference".

That's what a 82-61 beatdown would do to you. The St. Thomas Tommies looked as dominant as ever in first-year head coach John Tauer's debut, as the team shot 48% from the field, 47% from 3-land and outboarded the Tigers by 16. Though losing 4 important contributors to their championship team, they still retain the services of Tommy Hannon, the center who averaged 12 points and 7 boards a game. other key players include senior Peter Leslie, who scored 17 in the game against Oxy, and John Nance, who averaged 9 points in postseason in 2010-11.

While the Tommies were on top of the world, the Sagehens were not exactly that. The same program that won back-to-back SCIAC championships in '04 and '05 sloughed through a 9-16 season. Things didn't get any better when the Sagehens lost to Pepperdine earlier in the season. To their credit, Pepperdine is a Division I program and the Sagehens led for most of the game until a Waves run altered the game's momentum. The Sagehens will look to this game as a chance to defeat the defending national champs and provide themselves a huge confidence boost.

Senior Greg Wright had 12 in the game while Po Grant had 11 coming off the bench in the game against Pepperdine.

The game will be played in the Rains Gym (Voelkel Court) on 19th of November at 5pm.
