Winter Break Fun: Searching For Internships!
A poem by Catalina Mumm, ‘06 Former CSC Career Consultant
So you’re sitting at home with not much to do
Perhaps you’re planning a trip to the local zoo
You’ve slept 12 hours every night of your vacation
You’re refreshed-not stressed-all you need is a bit of motivation!
It’s never too early to start thinking about a summer internship
Especially if you want to do something fun, exciting and hip!
Research some companies where you might want to go
Ask for advice from all the people you know
Get in touch with alumni working in your field of interest
Check out CMConnect to make sure no opportunity has been missed
The search for an internship doesn’t have to be a bore
Once you find one place of interest, you’ll surely find more!
And once summer comes around-
You’ll definitely be happy with what you’ve found
Think of the fable of the grasshopper and the ant
The grasshopper sang all summer–
winter arrived and his resources were scant
So if you don’t want to get stuck with no job at all
Start your search over break– there’s no need to stall
Here’ a bit of inspiration
A fabulous Dr. Seuss quotation:
“You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself any direction you choose.
You’re on your own.
And you’ll know what you know
And YOU are the guy who’ll decide where to go”
-Oh the Places You’ll Go
Good Luck!! And remember, Career Services is always here to help!
